You never know what you may discover reading so many wonderful fashion blogs on a weekly basis. I came across Amber Sakai when I saw Claire of De Lune blog wearing one of her pieces.

I was immediately intrigued to learn more about this fashion designer.

In Spring 2009, Amber Sakai debuted her first collection featuring her trademark bodysuit that can work in an office setting with a blazer or in a intimate setting by itself.

Sakai makes clothing that is effortless and sexy at the same time.

I had the pleasure of talking to this remarkable fashion designer about her Fall 2011 collection and about her favorite pair of shoes.

What was the inspiration behind your Fall 2011 collection?

The Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is inspired by the young, modern woman acting as her own super hero.  The thought was to provide our girl with a uniform that gives her an empowered sexiness.  The modern dresser is all about celebrating individuality.  We are providing designs that allow for self expression but are easy to wear, allowing our girl to rush out of her flat with no thought or worry.  Leaving men to wonder and women to envy.

When creating a new collection, what is your favorite part – designing, making the product, or seeing the final product?

My favorite part of the creative process is designing.  I am inspired by fabric first.  It think about texture, drape, weight, what the fabric will tell, how it will enhance, how it will move, how will it suggest femininity or empower someone’s sense of self.  In the case of Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, textures play a distinct role.  The designs use warm felted nubby lace, sumptuous leathers, and ponte that lends to asymmetrical lines and geometric cuts, with ribbon detailing, and hints of men’s wear.

The overall thought has always been to be modern, sophisticated and playful with an unexpected fabric that allows the drape to not only create an attractive fit, but demands that the clothes move and flow. It brings a sexiness even when you’re standing still.

How would you describe the woman that wears your clothing line?

Our girl walks her own path, with sophistication and playfulness paired, of course, with her choice shoe of the moment!

What are three pieces from your Fall 2011 collection that you think every woman should have in her closet?

The Malibu in ponte is my take on the little black dress.  The crescent cut, elongates any woman’s leg.  It is the perfect balance of simple, comfy and sexy.  I see it paired with any kind of shoe from slip on sandals to heeled booties.

The Antwerp skirt has a beautiful shape is made with great supple leather.  This piece is the sophisticated staple.  It can be paired with a classic pump (for channeling Mrs. Robinson) or studded Louboutin’s for a night on the town.

The Williamsburg body suit is a core piece that can be layered with ease.  The body suit is the main driving force for the brand and provides versatility.  This piece can be worn uptown, downtown, or beach side.  I see it completely on its own, barefoot!

What is the best pair of shoes you have bought so far? Why?

My most recent purchase was a pair of Bedouin sandals.  They are actually men’s, but my feet fit them perfectly.  They are one of a kind and provide an understated exclusivity.  They are the perfect summer sandals and could be worn to the beach or a music festival.  When I wear them, I feel like I am living out my Lawrence of Arabia fantasies!

I also have a pair of Christian Louboutin Lisse black leather booties.  They are so flirty.  Who knew an ankle bone could be such a sexy tease?  I pair them with our hoop skirts and pirate pants.

She is a Chicago based fashion blogger that focuses on street style and the many adventures that Andrea takes with her evolving personal style.

Learn a little bit more about one of TEAM ENVI’s fave bloggers:

When did you start blogging?

I started my blog, Blonde Bedhead, in January 2010. It was just a couple months after I joined Chictopia and Lookbook.nu.

What inspired you to start blogging?

After I joined Lookbook.nu and Chictopia, I wanted a more centralized place to share not only my outfits.  I try to mix in not only my own outfits, but friends around me who dress so chic and fabulous! It gives me a chance to have fun with photography and share great style of people who don’t blog.

What do you love about blogging?

I love to stalk. Not in a creepy way of course, but I suppose that’s subjective. I am so inspired by other bloggers and it’s great to spice up my own style by checking out other blogs. I’ve also been able to make so many friends through blogging. I’ve attended a handful of blogger meet ups based in Michigan, the Midwest and around Fashion Week.  Through those experiences, I’ve established some really strong friendships. I’ve made special trips to other cities to visit these friends and it’s great to have people who understand this crazy world of fashion blogging and bond over it.

What is your favorite pair of shoes you have brought so far? Why?

My favorites are probably my electric blue Jeffrey Campbell Pixie wedges. They’re bright, edgy and over the top. I love a statement shoe. I love to wear very basic outfits with an interesting shoe and call it good.

How would you describe your personal style?

I’d describe my style as comfortable, but edgy. I love wearing blacks and grays anything cotton or leather. I’ve recently been exploring more colors this summer, but I typically love a leather jacket, grey tee, jeans and a pair of boots.

If you had to pick one shoe brand to describe you, what would you pick? Why?

Jeffrey Campbell. The shoe brand designs shoes that are edgy, fun and comfortable and they look expensive. But, they are super affordable. There is some risk-taking, but also plenty of basic shoes with a twist, which describes me perfectly.

If you had to pick one fashion designer’s body of work to replace your whole wardrobe, who would you pick and why?

Alexander Wang. I’m obsessed with everything he designs and I could wear his clothing out on the town to a low-key brunch with friends. It’s versatile, edgy and always comfortable.

She hails  from Sweden where her passion for art began.

Linn has a background in advertising and graphic design.

She currently holds the position of senior art director at a Boston advertising agency.

Her clients includes: Fine Living, MTV, and Anime Network, La Perla, and Bon Magazine.

Let’s not forget that this artist made Tyra Banks look amazing in her ads for Top Model a couple of seasons ago.

On Friday, two more Jeffrey Campbell Litas arrived at the TEAM ENVI offices.

One was stitched in colorful patches.

One was sprinkled with black sequin.

We all fell in love with both of these babies at first sight.

Therefore, we thought we make the ENVI of the Week all about LITA LOVE!
